Strategy and Passion

Strategy and Passion Strategies are developed in the mind and executed in the field, it requires a great amount of thinking to be a strategist and it requires a great amount of passion to execute the same.    Strategy without passion is the journey towards failure, whereas a strategy with passion is the fastest route to success. A good team should have both strategists and passionate performers. M.L. Narendra Kumar

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-4

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-4 Once the ladies remove the Vathal/Vadams completely, we felt a sense of relief and we used to play on the terrace peacefully, however, sudden rains in summer did play a spoiled sport occasionally and sometimes there will be family functions on the terrace. Despite all these hindrances, we always found happiness in every small thing we did and enjoyed our summer vacations. The reason for penning down this article is to ensure such events needs to be stored and the lesson from life needs to be passed on to the next generation. In the past, people lived as a community and worked with each other, but today the socio-economic setup has changed and each one of us is busy in our ways. Let us not forget the success story of Lijjat Pappad which was started by a group of women on a terrace and later turned to be a household brand. Let us rediscover our good practices from the past and re-launch to live as a community and be an ins...

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-3

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-3 Once the ladies complete their work, we stay back on the terrace and sit under a shade either, discussing fight scenes in movies (which we see once in a month) or start playing trade, ludo etc.  One of us will go back and check whether the vathal/Vadams had dried or not by peeling one or two and tasting it and later blame it on the crow.    During the afternoons, we will assemble on the terrace and start discussing the cricket matches we played, and the conversation will move in many other directions.     One of them will slowly start the conversation about the ghost in the neem tree and, we all start focusing on the tree which was next to our house. Each one of them will narrate what they heard about the neem tree and the ghost. Indeed, some of us were carried away by the stories but few expressed their desire to play with the ghost.   During the sunset, the ladies used to come back to...

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-2

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-2 One of us would have seen the vathal/ vadams and intimate others about losing our playfield and start thinking about alternative games we can play on the terrace. Some of us will also assist the ladies in the process of drying the Vathal/Vadams, we were also given the task of ensuring the crows don't eat the Vathal/Vadams. On top of it, we will touch the vathal/Vadams to check, whether it has dried or not, if it is dry, we can remove it so that we can get back to our play area. Lesson-3 ·          When one option close, the other opens ·          Crisis makes us creative ·          In Constraints we innovate Since Vathal/ Vadams was our snacks, (not junk food), we did have a stake in helping our elders. During the drying process, we suddenly come across an old man who climbs to the terrace with an o...

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-1

Life Lessons from Vathal/Vadams on Terrace Part-1 During my childhood days, we lived in a house where we had tenants on the ground floor, and we occupied the first floor. Half of the first floor was an open terrace, where we used to dry our clothes during the daytime, play in the evenings and use it for functions as well. Summer vacations were the most important period of our life and we used to wait for them. Since we all belong to the same age group with just a few years plus or minus, we almost finish our exams at the same time. Our only relaxation was playing together, and our hill station was our terrace. During summer the ladies used to join and collectively cook Vathal/Vadam on the terrace and start drying it on an old saree or a Dhoti depending on the quantity. Incidentally, that was the place where we used to play. Lesson-1 ·          When we collectively produce, we get a better rate. ·      ...

Less than a Minute Life Lesson-1502 Monotonous Day

Less than a Minute Life Lesson-1502 Monotonous Day A monotonous day neither has 23 hours nor 25 hours, it has 24 hours like any other day.  It is our attitude towards life, that determines whether we will have a monotonous day or a fulfilling day. The Reason for Stress

The Reason for Stress A middle-aged man asked an old monk, "What is the reason for stress?" The monk said, "More" The middle-aged man asked, "Can you elaborate, what you said" The monk with a smile said, If you want more of anything and everything, you will be stressed. For example- If you want more money, you will be stressed, if you want to be loved more you will be stressed and the list is endless, but life has an end. The middle-aged man asked, " How do I know what is more and what is not?" Monk said, " In the journey of life, death is a destination and remember there is a destination for all your desires too, instead of defining what is more; define what and how much you want". A well-defined life is like a well-defined journey to make your ride comfortable, define your route and your destination. The middle-aged man thanked the monk and texted the builder, “I am not stretching my budget and let us go with bas...
