Guess Who am I -9 I am there when you fail. I am there when you are late. I am there when you don't complete a task. I help you to play self pity on you. I help you to gain Sympathy. I prevent you from learning. I convince you to convince others. I am compared with results. Sometimes your boss hates me. After few years you will regret why you used me. There can be reasons why you couldn't recognize me. Now you have a reason to get irritated with me. I am the reason for your pain. I am the reason for your failure. I am the reason to lose people. Yes, I am the reason- people call me reason. Don't befriend  me to be branded as a reason generating machine. Ignore me, if required throw me out of your life. Remember results matter not reasons. Instead of generating reasons generate ideas. There can be many reasons to give reasons but there is only one reason not give a reason- it's your life, it's  your deci

The Garden of Life In the Garden of life, you are the Gardner.  Your seeds should be your Goals. Your manure should be Hope. Your water should be hard work You should constantly look for weeds called negative thinking and pluck it out before it infects your garden called life. Written By: M.L.Narendra Kumar
Journey and Life A good journey is not about Comfort, speed and distance, it is about the experience you had in the journey. Similarly a good life is not about happiness, rapidness in growth & longevity of life. It is about what you experience in life and how use your experience to give meaning to your life.  Start the journey of life with a destination called Goal  keep travelling on a vehicle called Determination   Face the Breakdowns with never say die attitude       Rest in motels called  Introspection. Craft work and Life Let’s compare our life with craft work which demands drawing outlines, cutting into shapes, colouring, sticking & drying. Drawing an outline in the craft work is like setting goals and action plans in life. The outline in the craft work determines the outcome of the craft, similarly goals with purpose and action plan determines the outcomes in life. Cutting into shapes in the craft is like Cutting negative thoughts, habits, taking things personally in life. Perfect shapes in the craft work adds up to the bigger picture of the craft, similarly cutting negatives in life determines how we are going to shape up as person to achieve our goals. Colouring in the craft is like leading the life with Enthusiasm, Patience, determination etc. Right colours add life to the craft. Similarly colouring in life determines our ability to rise and run towards our goal. Sticking in the craft is like Relating with people through empathy, forgiven
Work Place Lessons from Office Stationary-7 Paper Weight Anything that was heavy enough to prevent a paper from flying was used as a paper weight. In the office atmosphere colourful paper weight was placed on the desk, some people spin it on the desk when they are thinking or trying to get some new ideas. However the role of the paper weight remains the same. Workplace is not about self, it is also about relationship. Where there is support there is harmony, let’s be like a paper weight to ensure people don’t fly in different directions. Once employees start supporting each other there is a sense belonging, this sense of belonging improves relationship and leads to effective team work. Let’s support to be supported Written by:M.L.Narendra Kumar
Work Place Lessons from Office Stationary-6 Cellophane Tape Cellophane tape- During our school days it helped in binding our books, taking care of torn notes, helped  in wrapping a gift etc. In workplace we used  it for sealing envelope covers, we used  it for sticking the charts etc. There are occasions where words are misinterpreted or sometimes what was meant to be confidential goes public. There is a saying “Your words are your enemy” Imagine a situation in a cafeteria where team members chat, gossip, Engage in cribbing etc. for few minutes and disperse. Sometimes these discussions lead to misunderstanding and ends up in conflict. When we are not sure whether we are right or wrong it is better to be silent When we don’t have much of rapport with a person, it’s better not to open up sensitive subjects When we are part of gossip today, we will a subject of gossip tomorrow The more negative we talk, the more negative we attract It i
Work Place Lessons from Office Stationary-5 Scissors Scissors- An object which was used by us for our project work or craft class Etc. had a limited usage in a school days but  today  scissors is used by us on a daily basis like cutting a milk cover, cutting a cellophane tape, etc. It was associated with opening / removing /shaping etc. it had a wider application and hence become an integral part of our life. Not every day in the workplace is a great day, we do have tough days. We would have come across criticism, fault finding, blaming, scolding etc. but at the end of the day, bad days not only spoils our work life, it is also spoils our personal life. There are occasions where people have told how bad days have spoiled one’s personal life and have sometimes resulted in bad decisions too. Let’s compare our life with our craft material which demands cutting the materials into shapes and remove unwanted pieces. What can we learn from scissors in th
Work Place Lessons from Office Stationary-4 White Paper White is symbol of purity and plain paper represents to readiness to be filled. During our exams it was our  hard work &ability to fill those white papers with right answers that took us the next level in our life. White paper in workplace is symbol of open mind. Workplace is filled with Ideas, Inputs, Feedback, Learning etc. in order to take advantage of the these benefits we need to be open minded. There are instances where we had come across the following concerns in the workplace:        My team is not open towards new ideas        My manager is  not open for a feedback     My colleague does not take my inputs etc. If we reflect upon the debacles of organisations which vanished due to competition it will have a sad story of not being open towards change. If we reflect upon seniors who would have lost a good team, it will have a sad story of close mindedness. If we r
Work Place Lessons from Office Stationary-3 Highlighter (Key word- Hard work can also be interpreted as initiatives, innovation & doing it for the first time) Highlighter – though we started using this in our later stages of our education but it become a part and parcel of a stationary kit in our work place. It was used to highlight the important points and it served as a remainder to remember certain important aspect of the task. But it has its unique feature which will help us in understanding the importance of developing visibility in the workplace. There are many employees who work hard but they don’t highlight their hard work, when we tried to understand why people don’t highlight their hard work these are some of the inputs I got:   Is it not the immediate manager’s duty to highlight the subordinate’s hard work?   Work hard rest is taken care   Why should I blow my trumpet In order to appeal to their logical brain I narra
Work place Lessons from office stationary-2 Ruler  Terms used ( Key Result Areas- KRAs and Key Performance Indicators- KPIs) Ruler was an interesting object in our school days for 2 reasons -1- It was used in our geometry classes for measuring and used in others subjects to ensure legibility of writing. There was one more reason for which some of us did not like the ruler, because it was used to punish some students  who misbehaved or who did not live up to the expectations of the teacher. In workplace ruler represents one’s ability to measure his/her performance and identify the gaps to fine tune oneself on a regular basis. On the other hand it is a tool in the hands of the immediate manager to measure the subordinates’ performance. During my sessions on planning and organizing I have come across situations where participants used to share their thoughts on performance reviews/Appraisals. Some of the major concerns that I had come across was:
Work place Lessons from office stationary-1 Pencil, Eraser and Sharpener Every object we see in our day to day life communicates some message; these objects are output of someone’s creativity and they have been developed for helping the mankind in one way or other. Based on this thought and inspiration from one of the writings “lessons from my room” I have penned down my thoughts under the title “Lessons from the office stationary”. This will be 8 part series which will help you to understand how to face the workplace and life as a whole. Pencil, Eraser and Sharpener was an integral part of our childhood. We lived with it every day and every time we bought a new one, we were excited to use it. Since we were engrossed in Class works and home works, we couldn’t appreciate the philosophy behind it. Pencil represents our performance, eraser represents our ability to correct our mistakes and sharpener represents our ability to hone our performance by consta
Workplace Lesson from Office Stationary Team Building Lessons from Stapler   When I am alone, I make no sense   Though we are qualified, still without a team we cannot prove our full potential. When he is not united, he makes no sense Though we have a team member, who is not part of the team,  we cannot use his potential to the fullest. We are closer but still not together   Coming together is not a team.   Though united but not acted upon does not produce results Though we are a team if we don’t act together we don’t achieve our goals.                                                                          When we unite and act, we also help others unite             A team united for the same cause can unite others Our results proves our potential Successful team is united by strengths and focused on results Written By: M.L.Narendra Kumar
