How often have you encountered an empty jug on the
dining table on a hot, thirsty day? How many times have you poured yourself a
drink from that jug only to leave it empty on the table afterwards? And how
often do you take the time to refill the jug after drinking?
We’ve all experienced these situations in life. In the first scenario, we were reactive. In the second, we showed a lack of empathy. In the third, we demonstrated empathy and a sense of responsibility.
The water jug serves as a metaphor. Just like it can be empty, sometimes our lives can feel lacking. We often blame others for this emptiness without realizing that we must fill our lives with purpose and goals to quench our thirst for meaning.
Sometimes, we become so focused on our lives that we forget those around us who also need care and love. Ideally, we should fill the jug for others to prevent their frustration with emptiness and alleviate the struggles of life.
Remember that our ancestors provided us with clean water, fresh air, and a healthy environment, ensuring our jugs were full. Today, however, everything comes at a cost.
We must understand the importance of conserving these resources and strive to pass down a full jug—this planet—to the next generation.
