Fishing in the troubled waters

 Fishing in the troubled waters

A young fisherman entered the fishing profession and found an area where there was troubled water.  He was able to catch more fish and was earning good money and, he continued the same for some time.

After few weeks, he was feeling restless because he could not get the same quantity of fish and was disappointed whenever he returned with less fish.

One day he approached a senior fisherman and shared his experience with him to seek some advice. The Senior fisherman said these are some of the mistakes:

·         You did not learn fishing the right way

·         You used troubled waters to your advantage

·         your success was temporary

·         Your efforts were less

·         You learnt some tactics that helped you in the short-term but did not learn strategies for the long-term

·         When the water turned to normal, fishes used their strengths

The young fisherman thanked him and asked, "Can you teach me the art of fishing. The Senior fisherman said, "Follow me."

This lesson is not only for fishing, but it also applies to any business we are doing, we might earn quick money, but we will not be there in the long term.

Customers might admire organisations who solve problems, but they respect those organisations that prevent it and helps them to be self-sufficient.

Customer’s testimony comes from the heart when we do not use them to our advantage and, these testimonies add value to our promotional efforts.

Ask yourself where are you fishing now?

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
