Kindling the Kid
A
youngster asked a monk,
"Are
you a 60s kid" the monk replied, "No."
The
youngest once again asked.
Are
you a 70s kid" The monk replied, "No.
The youngster, with doubt, asked.
Are
you an 80s kid" The monk replied, "No.
The
youngster asked, "How old are you?"
With a smile, the monk said, "If you ask the right question, you will get the
correct answer.
The
monk added by saying " Never ask how old you are; ask how young you are."
The youngster apologized and asked, “How young are you?
The
monk replied, " I am a kid forever in an ageing body."
The
youngster asked, " Master can you explain your answer?"
The
monk said, "Ageing is a natural process, but to feel young is a choice;
when there is a kid inside me, there is curiosity, joy, and willingness to forgive.
The
youngster, with a smile said, "Thank you, master, for kindling the kid in
me."
