Respect to an Army man We start a day with an exercise to be fit for the rest of the day They are always fit to keep us alive We have a choice of food, choice of dress and we have choice to be there in the office or not They only have no choices but to do and die We can sit and talk democracy But they keep the democracy alive We see the colour of blood on reel They see the colour of blood in real We can see a film hero getting hurt or we can kill a villain with a move of the joy stick Whereas they see the their fellow soldiers getting hurt everyday We can walk and talk by saying “what an idea sirji There are many sirjis who only have a Radio set that says” Roger Over” We can scold the government and stay away from the election booth but they need to stay in their bunkers for days on end We dirty our fingers once in five years Whereas their fingers remain dirty cleaning the borders of the dirty elements Our fight w...

Do we ask the right questions? Once I was buying self-development books from the platform near Chennai Railway station. I picked up few books on selling skills and told the platform vendor " don't over charge me, I regularly buy the books from the same shop" The shopkeeper was a young boy who was hardly 16 years old. The young boy told " sir could you repeat what you said" with a doubtful voice I said" don't overcharge me I buy books in your shop regularly ", the boy said " if I would have overcharged you, do you think you would have been my regular customer. These words are still ringing in my mind and I narrate this incident in all my sales training programs. Great sales lesson learnt on the platform.
Story on Gaining Respect A learned man came across an old monk in a common gathering and said “Master which one brings respect to a person 1. Money 2. Knowledge 3. Relationship Master with a humble smile said all of the above and none of the above. The learned man was confused and asked " Master could you be clear Master said “When you are not clear how can you tell me to be clear" Learned man smiled and pleaded "can you give me an answer" Old monk said  " no matter how much of money you have ,if it is not earned in the right way nobody will respect you. " no matter how much of knowledge you have, but if people do not benefit out of your knowledge they will only see it is a junk" " If there is a hidden agenda in your relationship people will develop a negative opinion about you and hence you don't gain respect. To gain respect using money, earn to live ,don't live to earn. Share your knowledge to th...
Are we good at Judging People? When I was travelling with my client in Nellore, We were struck in a busy road, due to a tricycle which was loaded with heavy packages. My client was continuously honking, but the vehicle did not move. Client" bloody dumb, what the hell he is doing" Suddenly we saw a man who was smoking a beedi  came rushing to move the vehicle. Client" look at this fellow, Naren he was happily smoking and now he is rushing. The vehicle moved forward and we saw the tricycle person riding it after he got a push \. We were observing this and we saw the man with the beedi, going back to the place, he rushed from, when I took a close look he was a cobbler who came forward to help the tricycle person. My client looked at me and said avasara paten (  I was too fast in judging) The cobbler exhibited leadership, Emotional intelligence and true humanity. In order to imbibe this we spend time on training people to learn and exhibit t...
Do you have an unpaid Consultant? In one of my training sessions I asked " what is your opinion about negative feedback?" I did get many answers like bad, depressed, it is routine etc. But one participant said there is nothing called negative feedback. When I asked him to explain, he said feedback is a Gift, many were surprised in the class and few did give a weird look.  He said we don't reject gifts, we either use it or keep it away. When someone is giving you a feedback it can be a perception or a judgement, it is you who decides how to use it. He finally concluded when someone has the guts and the concern to tell you are wrong he need not be your enemy he is an unpaid consultant. Dear friends do you have an unpaid consultant next to you?
How tolerant are we? When I was travelling in a call taxi, I came across a situation where my call taxi driver encountered a poor driving. The driver immediately stopped and he was about to scold the other car driver but as soon as he saw the L board he stopped and gave a smile. When I asked him why he didn't scold ,he said, "He is a learner." During my rest of the journey I was thinking about this incident. After few hour these were some of the questions in my mind.  1. Do we have the similar tolerance when teach our children? 2. Do we have the similar tolerance when we handle the trainees? 3. Do we have the similar tolerance when we handle the participants? Friends From the above road incident my key takeaway was, the greatest mistake is not the mistake, it is the inability to forgive the mistake. Hope this real time incident would have sensitized you towards others mistakes.
Classifying Generation-Specific to India As we are aware that west has classified it’s generation as stated below ·          Traditionalist:  1900-1945-World war- Great Depression ·          Baby boomers- 1946-1964-Civil Rights- Space travel ·          Gen-X-1965-1980-Energy Crisis- Double Income ·          Gen-y-1980-2000-Digital World ·            I have been asking myself: ·          Should India use the same terms to classify? ·          First of all did we pass through the same events? With this seed in my mind I was researching and studying about our Nation. I have been actively writing about India every day for 445 days in my groups and I’m sure this mission will co...
