The value of school Life

Inspired from the narration I heard during my final year B.com-1993

On a long weekend a family was discussing for an outing and they finally agreed on visiting a trade fair with game zones. Son was excited when his father was explaining about the game zone and he started visualising himself engaging in various rides and games.

Son started asking dad “We should go to snow world, we should go to mystery room, you should buy me candy, ice creams and big size Apallam”

Father said “Kiran, I will take you to all the rides and get you what you want, but with one condition that you should hold our hands and you should not run here and there. Being a crowded place, you will find it difficult to locate us”

Son said “Ok, daddy, but don’t forget that big size Apallam”

The family booked a cab on the same evening and went to the trade fair, the place was flooded with people, the long weekend reflected in every queue the people were standing. The place was smelling yummy eatables, colourful lights and cacophony played in those speakers which is ready to rest in the museum.

Kiran was excited when he saw his favourite rides and food, being an active child, he managed to walk towards the game zone and after few minutes he realised he has missed his parents.

His parents were searching near various rides and were in panic.

Kiran was searching and slowly tears started rolling out of his eyes, a lady saw him crying and asked what happened, Kiran was asking for his Parents. The kind-hearted lady, asked “do you know your parents’ mobile number” Kiran with crying tone managed to tell his father’s number. The lady called Kiran’s father to give the land mark and told them to come there and also assured she will wait till they come.

The lady asked Kiran “Would you like eat some Candy, Kiran refused. She asked how about Mega Apallam, Kiran refused and he was crying. Kiran said “I need my parents” The lady kept pacifying Kiran and, in the meanwhile, his parents located him.

Kiran’s father was upset and he tried scolding him but his wife intervened and starting wiping Kiran’s face and they, both thanked the lady and left the place.

*Let’s look at this short story from a student’s perspective*

When we were students we were like Kiran who wanted to enjoy rides, eat candy etc. All we wanted in our school days was

·         To go out and play

·         bunk classes

·         have fun

·         tease the teachers

·         wait for a bus strike or a government bandh

·         expect a festival holiday on Monday etc.

If we examine our life today we are like Kiran who missed his parents, all we want today is

·         Meet our friends

·         meet our teachers

·         we want sit in the bench we sat

·         we want to cherish our school days

in short, we want to laugh with a saggy skin, jump with our bulky body etc.

The value of anything goes up, when we long for it

Let’s meet on 12.8.2018

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.   L&D Global Chennai Chapter was instrumental in bringing Jaby closer to my heart, our journey was not too long, but it was filled with fun, humour, joy and learning too. When Jaby was present, dullness was absent. He filled the hall with his sense of humour, and his thoughts were deep-rooted in bringing the best out of every human. Jaby was the most admired person in any forum; when Jaby picked the mic, the audience pulled themselves to the edge of the chair. Jaby was casual in his appearance, but he was a thorough professional everywhere. During COVID, if there was one person whom I counted on to help people, it was Jaby; his car was filled with masks, sanitizer and an oxygen concentrator. His social bent of mind made him a good Samaritan. Jaby was a curious child, whenever we both met, he was curious to improve his skills and knowledge, and his quest for development was limitless. Jaby and I collaborated in the year ...
