Caught Between Belief and Progress – Which Side Are You On?

Caught Between Belief and Progress – Which Side Are You On?

In every field—whether politics, business, employment, or professional life—there are people who fiercely defend their religion and caste. They engage in heated arguments, join protests, deliver hate speeches, and take false pride in their identity. What they fail to realize is that they are defending ideologies born in ancient times—ideologies that are slowly fading due to their irrelevance in the modern world. Yet, they remain stuck in a fixed mindset.

On the other side, there are people building the future. They are developing AI and robotics technologies to make life easier, faster, and more efficient. But here’s the silent revolution: in doing so, they are unintentionally rendering the rigid believers irrelevant.

·       A businessman trapped in outdated ideologies. Technology will wipe out his business—and we are already witnessing this.

·       An employee who spends time on religious or caste-based conflicts? Their seat is already being targeted by automation and smarter talent.

·       A politician who fuels division? They will find no audience in the future.

The coming generations will care about safety, security, financial freedom, standard of living, and quality of life. They will not be carried away by arguments like “my god is more powerful than yours” or “my caste is superior.” Such thoughts will make no sense to them.

So here we are: one group of people pushing the world forward to ease human life, while another fights to defend belief systems that can be debated, questioned, and if needed, left behind entirely.

Be wise. Find balance.

Don’t lean entirely on one side. Use your rational mind—let your beliefs shape you mentally and morally, but follow technology to stay future-ready. Avoid hate-mongers who want to wash your brain. And stay cautious: technology, too, can manipulate your mind for its own advantage.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
