3 Mistakes done while Appreciating a person in a workplace

During the appreciation process these are the some of the mistakes done by some of the immediate managers/leaders:

Mistake-1-Finding fault with a person and holding a discussion about it for a while and then appreciate a person for his other good deeds or make statements like you are so talented, you don’t know your potential etc.is one common mistake we can see in the workplace.

Mistake-2- Appreciating a person and then finding fault with him/her is another common mistake we can see in workplace Ex- You are doing a good job, but why are making such silly mistakes

Mistake -3-- Appreciating a person and giving him/her an assignment Ex- I have never seen such a committed person like you, if you don’t mind can you come for a Tech support on this Saturday

When I do a session on power of appreciation, I ask the participants how many of you have come across such appreciation; I have seen hands rising for all the three mistakes.

If we decide to appreciate a person, let’s only do that, we do have feedback sessions and other review session to correct a person, let us not misuse appreciation.
