Lessons from Slide

During our childhood we would have experienced the joy of playing on a slide. We used to wait for our turn to climb and once we slide down we rush back to climb again. We did this till we were tired or we felt we need to play the other game. Let’s look at this game from workplace point of view

A slide has a capacity & children should wait for their turn to climb and slide down. Every organisation has a capacity and people should wait for their turn to enter the organisation.

There will be some kids who would like skip the line and go ahead of others but they will also come across such behaviours from others and they will land up fighting with each other. Finally, the care taker will intervene to discipline them.

Similarly, there will be people who would like to go ahead of others, they would use ways and means to reach the top, but they will come also come across similar people in their journey and things will be tougher than they think. Since these people find short cuts, they will not focus on developing their performance and hence they will find it difficult to sustain at the top.

Sometimes we can notice children trying to climb through the slide and we would have found it difficult to slide down when someone does that; however, we will manage to slide down by going to the extreme corner.

Similarly, there will be people who will come in our way, we need stick to our goal and find a way to move forward. Instead, if we react and argue, we are losing our focus on growth and achievement. All we need to do is take the lesson from the kids by carefully creating a path to slide down. Eventually those characters will find it difficult to go up the slide because they have ignored the stairs, remember step by step growth will last for longer.

Sometimes we can come across children who will be fast from the behind, they might also be harsh. Either we moved faster or gave way for those kids to slide down. Sometimes there will not be enough space to give way, hence we stuck our own speed.

Similarly, in workplace there will be people who would like go fast, either we compete with them or allow these people to move forward and identify our means to develop ourselves.

If the situation is reversed, what happens if were the kids who rushed, probably we would have had a momentary happiness but we would have also come across kids who would have been faster and stronger than us. In such situation we either adjust or change our behaviour.

Similarly, in workplace we need to evaluate our own attitude towards others.

Sometimes we used to slide along with others, which gave us a sense of courage and pleasure. Similarly, in workplace when learn to work along with others, we will not feel the pain of work, instead it will be a pleasure to share and work.

The pleasure of the slide can be enjoyed once we reach the top but let’s not forget that we need use the stairs. In workplace it will be a great pleasure to reach the top, but let’s not forget that we need to keep developing ourselves to reach the top.
To reach the top in life we need to start from the bottom, but life doesn’t guarantee we can stay in the top forever, but let’s accept that sometimes we need to gracefully slide down to appreciate the power of being in top and reflect upon the efforts it took to reach the top.

Sliding gracefully is preparing for the next climb

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too. Part-1-Ethos Application of the model in training program Ethos- Trainer Introduction There are organization where trainer and his credibility are introduced, but there are occasions where trainer does a self-intro and starts the program. In such occasions, we can request the client to handover a copy our profile to the participants along with course material. This will help the participants to know more about the trainer It is always bett...
