Clean Your House

A disturbed Disciple asked an old Monk "How do I overcome my worries?"

The Monk asked "What kind of Worries are you talking about?"

The disciple said "I am worried about my Future, I am worried about my business, & I am worried about how to overcome this Pandemic situation"

The Monk asked "Have you engaged yourself in cleaning your house?"

The disciple said "Yes, I have done it"

The Monk asked "While cleaning Have you come across things which you would have misplaced or lost?"

The disciple said "Yes, I have found some documents"

The Monk said "The nature has given you an opportunity to  search for what you had lost, sometimes you forget your good practices you applied in your business, sometimes you forget your qualities which you applied to come a long way."

The Disciple said "At crisis and challenging times we are not able to think"

The Monk asked "If you don't clean your house regularly, what will happen?"

The disciple said " it is not hygienic; it will be messy and sometimes we will not have place to sit"

The Monk said "You are right, since you don't cleanse yourselves regularly your mind becomes messy, your heart is burdened and you will not have place for positive thinking in your life" When challenges and crisis comes you are struck and you don't realise your potential too.

The disciple asked "What do you suggest"

The Monk said "Clean your house"

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
