Lessons from Serving Food

Lessons from Serving Food

Once a European  was invited for a house to have traditional south Indian lunch in an Indian Family in Europe , after a chat for an hour he was offered a seat in the dining table and he was surprised to see a big banana leaf  served  with the variety of dishes on it & the host slowly started serving the different varieties of food which encompasses a typical south Indian thali meals. The European was stunned seeing the variety and he thoroughly enjoyed the food.

After having a sumptuous meal, he asked the host “why was the food served in big Banana leaf” one of the elderly family member said “The big leaf represents a big heart to serve our guest and the reason why we serve the food in a banana leaf is to ensure hygiene for the guest and the food tastes better when it is in contact with the banana leaf”

The guest asked “Why do you make so many varieties?” The elderly person said “Each variety has a nutritious value and it ensures a balanced diet required for an individual and above all it also indirectly gives a choice for the guest to eat what he/she loves and based on variety they consume, we understand the guests preference and we would like to offer more”

The European said “Your food fills our stomach, the Taste Lingers in our tongue, the philosophy behind serving the food will always live in our minds and your hospitality will live in our hearts”

Understand the purpose, you will Appreciate the Tradition
