Everyone is rich if we understand the power of Giving

Inspired by the Teachings of Buddha

The word rich is synonyms to wealth /money. There are days when we would have felt why I am not as rich as the other person or what should I do to become rich? Richness is seen in the dress we wear, the car we drive and the restaurant in which we dine.

Let’s stop for a minute and understand what is being rich?

1.       Having a great deal of money or assets; wealthy
2.       Existing in plentiful quantities; abundant

Some of us will be wealthy, we might possess a decent bank balance, a rich looking house but there are few things which almost everyone possesses and can be used in abundance.

Let’s understand what we all possess in common which makes us rich. We all have the following with us, which can be used for giving to prove how rich we are:

Face- A face with a smile can give instant joy to the other person, a smile doesn’t cost anything. Let’s prove our richness with a warm smile.

Mouth- A mouthful of caring words can give a new lease of life to the person who is searching for the meaning of life. Words need not be drawn from your bank account. Let’s prove our richness with soothing words.

Heart- A Heart full of kindness can kindle the kindness in others. The kind heart doesn’t require a debit card for withdrawing. Let’s prove our richness with our kindness.

Eyes- Eyes which can look for Goodness in others can develop goodness in self. To see good in others it doesn’t require a bank guarantee. Let’s prove our richness with our ability to see the goodness around us.

Ears- Ears which listen to feelings, ears which can listen to pain is the need of the hour. By lending our ears we are giving few minutes/hours from our lifespan. To lend your ears, you need not break your fixed deposit. Let’s prove our richness by looking into a person’s eyes, hold her/his hands and tell “I’m here to listen”

Hands- Hands which can be rendered for lifting a person, hands which can be used for sharing the burden can attract millions of thanks. To render your hand, you need not break your piggy bank. Let’s prove our richness by extending our helping hand.

Legs-Legs which can walk for others to a medical Shop, legs which can walk to a hospital to tell “get well soon” can attract many souls to walk along with us in our journey of life. You need not walk to your bank with a request letter to walk for others. Let’s prove our richness by walking for/along with others.

Stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself. You can understand your richness.

Rich in the heart, rich in the mind attracts richness

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
