Knowledge sharing in lockdown times

Knowledge sharing in lockdown times

As we are aware the Pandemic continues and it has intensified further due to increasing in Corona cases, at this juncture the training fraternity is challenged with imparting the right kind of knowledge and skills.

In the past year, we have slowly shifted to online, but still we all know that it has not yielded the expected result and we are also trying our best to engage the learners.

Though online education is a vast subject, I am restricting this write-up to increasing effective knowledge sharing during lockdown days, here are some of the actions we can take

1.   We can take the help of training need analysis to identify the knowledge gap and develop knowledge sharing session

2.   We can conduct an assessment on domain knowledge and identify the gap that needs to be addressed

3.   We can ask the employees to list down the knowledge they would like to acquire and develop session based on it

4.   Senior resources can discuss a particular topic and the same can be shared as recorded video

5.   We can study the KRAs that are not achieved and develop a knowledge session to achieve the KRAs

6.   We can bring an expert from other fields to share their knowledge which can serve as cross-learning, ex- How other service industries reach the customer to serve them during a pandemic

7.   Wellness sessions can be of a great help during pandemic days

8.   We can form knowledge committees and assign them the areas they need to focus on and ask them to develop an online learning material, that can be loaded in the LMS

9.   We can choose various online forums, groups, universities that offer courses in line with our business and enrol our employees, who in turn can share their knowledge.

10.        Films/ Ted talks which has inputs related to the industry can be used to engage the participants in the knowledge sharing session

11.        The age-old quiz competition is still a good option to increase the knowledge

Let us make learning more interesting, whether the the learner needs us or not, but our survival is based on our ability to innovate and change

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
