Granny Returns on a Stormy Night
A manager came on a video call to allocate work to
his subordinate and saw the subordinate holding his laptop and standing while
taking the call. The manager asked, "Why can't you sit in one place and
take the call?" Granny came closer to the laptop and said, "Vanakkam
Manager" The manager also wished her back.
The granny
asked, "How is the rain in your area?
The manager
said, "it is raining over here."
The granny
asked, "Is there water logging in your house?"
The manager
said, "I am on the 6th Floor."
Granny said, "your subordinate is on the ground
floor & is battling with waterlogging in his house and, hence he is not
able to sit and take the call. At this juncture, you should be happy that he is
ready to work in this situation rather than ask him questions that are not
relevant to the call. Above all, you should have started the call by showing
your concern during stormy nights.
The manager said, "I am sorry, I was engrossed
in the task and, hence I did not check his situation."
The granny said, "Humanity first; duty
next."
The manager's wife said, "Your sister's house
is flooded and, he said, "tell her to come here, we can manage.”
Granny said,
"That's kind of you."
The manager instructed the subordinate to take a
break from the work and focus on draining the water.
Granny said, " After pandemic, work from home
has become easy, but it does not mean it is easy, at all times. During floods and natural calamities, we
should give time for people to safeguard themselves from any disasters. *When
you are at the top, you tend to fail seeing people at the bottom*
Remember, every layer in the organisation & the
society contribute to building the workplace and the nation
