Travel- Life Lessons on the go

Proactivity in the sky

There are many kinds of travellers, but every traveller will have a lesson to share. For the past two years, travel has reduced due to pandemic situations and, vacation was only a dream. However, the memories of the past always live with us.

I was recollecting an incident that happened in 2015 while I was travelling with my family to Hongkong from Malaysia. After a tiring midnight Journey from Chennai to Malaysia, I was longing to continue my nap on the flight to Hongkong.

The flight took off with regular announcement and, after a few minutes, inflight service started. Generally, they serve water bottles and a cool towel but, we received a pouch with a few toffees, A printed card with a brief note on Autism on one side and an Introduction to a girl child with Autism who was travelling on the same flight.

The card had a message which stated, "I am______ your fellow Passenger who has different abilities, but you might come across some unpleasant noises from my side. However, I thank you for understanding my situation and wish you a pleasant journey."

After reading the message, I was thinking about how I would have reacted to the girl's noise if such a note would have not been shared. I was internally praising the family for applying proactive thinking to avoid unwanted reactions from fellow passengers.

I was not only touched by the note, but I was also curious to see the little girl when I heard the girl's voice. When the flight landed, almost all the passengers greeted the little girl and appreciated the parents for the note.

The above incident is still fresh in my and, use this in my training sessions to explain the following:

1.  The pouch is an example of creativity in action

2.  Circulating the pouch in advance is an example of Proactivity

3.  When we empathise with others, we gain their attention.

4.  When we focus on others, we can make our life easy.

Every travel is like doing a course, where people and situations turn to be our teachers. Occasionally, when we travel back to our travelling days, it not only kindles our memory, but it also helps us to reinforce our learnings in life.

Remember, life is not complete without travelling both internally and externally.

Less than a Minute Life Lesson-2410 Promotion and Character Promotion is a form of recognition for your competency and character. However, the people below you will relate to you more for your character than your competency. M.L. Narendra Kumar Director Instivate Learning Solutions PVT LTD www.instivatelearning.in
The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too. Part-1-Ethos Application of the model in training program Ethos- Trainer Introduction There are organization where trainer and his credibility are introduced, but there are occasions where trainer does a self-intro and starts the program. In such occasions, we can request the client to handover a copy our profile to the participants along with course material. This will help the participants to know more about the trainer It is always bett...
