React vs. Respond: The Crossroads of Character

React vs. Respond: The Crossroads of Character

Four Ways People Handle Unmet Expectations

When people don't get the results they want, many react; very few respond.

The people who react may display any of the following behaviours:

1. Quitters

These are the people who conclude that all efforts don't yield the desired results and therefore quit. They are the ones who don't realise that the difference between a successful person and someone who has yet to succeed is simply this: successful people try until they reach their destination, whereas unsuccessful people quit. The extra mile matters.

2. Blamers

These are the people who blame others and find solace for their failures. They are the ones who don't realise that it is their life, and they should take ownership of it and seek ways to either prevent others' interference or get the help they need to achieve their results.

3. Unlucky

These are the people who are convinced that their zodiac signs are undergoing tough times. While rovers dig for mud on Mars, astrologers keep using their ignorance to fill their pockets. These are the ones who don't believe in themselves and label others' success as luck, branding them as the "fortunate few."

4. Seekers

These are the few people who turn their attention inward, conduct a root-cause analysis to solve the problem, identify the gap, ideate, create, and deliver a solution to achieve their results.

Ask yourself what kind of person you are.

Be truthful to yourself to lead a fruitful life.

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too.
