The Dance of Ego and Humility
Success had just swept through
the hall like a triumphant wind, and Ego was already twirling in the spotlight,
drunk on applause. Pride clung to his shoulder, feeding his every move with
smug satisfaction.
But from the shadows, a soft
voice interrupted the revelry.
"Don't let your master lose himself in you," Humility whispered.
"Success is a guest, not a crown."
Ego stopped mid-spin, a mocking
grin curling across his face. "Mind your own business," he sneered,
and waved Humility away like a nuisance.
Bowing her head, Humility
retreated to a quiet corner. She watched from a distance as Ego and Pride
swelled larger, their laughter growing louder—until, in a sudden, clumsy twist,
they tripped over their own arrogance and crashed to the floor in a heap.
Humility rushed forward to help,
but a firm hand stopped her.
"Not yet," said Failure, stepping calmly into the light. "Let
them fade. They were never real."
Within moments, Ego and Pride
dissolved like morning mist. The master of the hall entered then, searching
anxiously—until his eyes found Humility.
"I made a mistake," he
admitted, his voice heavy with regret. "I let Ego and Pride take root
inside me."
Humility smiled gently.
"The moment you realise your misstep, you're already walking the path back
to success."
Just then, a warm presence
slipped its hand into hers. She turned to see Success standing beside her, calm
and sincere.
"I will stay by your
side," Success said softly, "as long as you never carry me in your
head—only in your heart."
