Unit-15
Boss
sees errors as blunders whereas Leader sees errors as an output of efforts
Errors are symbol of efforts, but when efforts are side lined and errors are discussed, an
organisation will have employees who sees jobs as a means for earning , whereas when Efforts
are applauded they see job as a source for Learning.
An organisation where errors
are punished will live in creativity crisis, whereas organisation where when
errors are communicated without being hurt is bound to be more creative.
Bosses don’t deep dive
to understand the reason for the errors' and hence they fix the people whereas
Leaders studies the reason & fixes the problem and not the people.
Bosses uses power while
dealing with errors whereas a Leader uses his coaching skills to correct the
errors.
Whenever bosses come across
errors all they need to do is connect with their early days to reflect how they
were treated, some of them would have been handled badly, keeping that in mind
they should empathise with their subordinates errors, thus such approach will
convert a boss into a Leader.
If organisations fail
to see errors as ladder for growth they will be struck in the daily whirlwind of meeting deadlines and
will be talking about errors & mistakes , whereas if an organisation sees, errors as a
Ladder for growth, they can see the opportunities for growth.
There is no workplace
without errors, there is no life without forgiveness.
Ask yourself the
following questions
1.
Do you see Errors as blunders?2. Do errors stress you?
3. Do you relate past errors committed by the subordinate while assigning new work?
4. Do your subordinates admit their errors openly?
5. Do you perceive errors as efforts?
6. Do you study the reason for the errors?
By answering the above questions you can understand
whether there is a boss in you who becomes a threat when your subordinates commit
errors or there is a Leader in you when you who see errors as an output of efforts.
Give
people permission to commit errors & the obligation to learn from them
