The Joy of Accomplishment

The Joy of Accomplishment

Targets should be achieved not just for the sake of the organization but also for the joy of accomplishment. In sales, we can experience joy by reaching targets daily. Targets don't just mean sales figures; they can include establishing new contacts, converting leads into prospects, prospects into customers, and customers into loyal customers.

As a salesperson, starting your day with a sense of achievement can make you more productive than waking up with the pressure of meeting numbers. The first step to being effective in sales is to turn pressure into passion and to make your company's targets your personal goals. Once you do this, you will discover a new person within you, constantly seeking growth and improvement.

The next time your company calls you for a target meeting, approach it with curiosity to understand how to achieve the goals rather than thinking of the targets as unrealistic. Remember, everything starts in the mind before it becomes a reality. What was just an imagination today is a reality; let it be a country like Singapore or Dubai; let it be the Wright brothers, who were proven to be wrong; let it be the bullet trains or anything that matters; it was just an imagination, but today it is a reality.

Instead of using our minds to defend the targets, if we use them correctly to generate ideas to achieve them, the mind will work towards them.

Start a day with a goal and end a day with the joy of accomplishments

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
