Approaching
Others Failure
It is all too easy to offer opinions
and judgments about others' failures, yet genuinely understanding their
experience requires us to empathize deeply. When we encounter someone who has
faced setbacks or failed in their endeavours, they often need not criticism but words of healing and support. In moments when we lack the
right words to comfort them, simply offering our silence can serve as a form of
solace. It shows that we are present and willing to listen without adding to
their distress.
Moreover, when discussing the failures of an absent person, we may question how they might have avoided such missteps. However, this speculation rarely serves any useful purpose for the individual who has experienced failure or those engaged in the discussion. Instead of helping, it can foster a sense of blame or misunderstanding.
Understanding failure requires personal experience; it is only through our struggles and setbacks that we can fully grasp the pain and lessons that come from them. Therefore, we should approach others with open hearts during these difficult times, ready to offer compassion, understanding, and support. Doing so contributes to a culture of empathy rather than judgment, fostering healing and resilience for hurting people.
