Investing in our Health

Investing in our Health

Recognizing the importance of health is only the beginning; we must also actively value and prioritize it in our daily lives. Simply acknowledging its significance is insufficient. To harness its benefits, we must set clear, measurable goals aligning with our health values and aspirations.

Many individuals are aware of health's crucial role in their lives, yet they neglect it, resulting in various health issues. Those who genuinely value their health tend to maintain it to a certain extent, often by incorporating healthier habits into their routines. However, the individuals who take it a step further by setting health-related goals—such as committing to regular exercise, eating balanced meals, and managing stress—experience a higher quality of health than others.

Moreover, while it is widely accepted that "health is wealth," it’s important to understand that just as wealth is cultivated through wise investments, our health can significantly improve when we invest our time and energy. This includes physical activity, proper nutrition, mental well-being, and preventive care. Treating our health with the same respect and dedication that we give to our financial pursuits can lead to a more fulfilling and vibrant life. Proactively managing our health lays the foundation for longevity and happiness.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
