Life and Indian Sweet Shop

There is no place in India without a sweet shop; there is no festival in India without sweets, no wonder why we are called the diabetic capital of the world.

This article is not about diabetics, it is about life.

I am sure each one of us would have stepped into a sweet shop at least once in our life to either buy it for us or buy it for others.

There are sweet shops under a small roof as well as sweet shops spread in a multi storied building.

Some sweet shops make few 1000s some make lakhs in a day.

Some shops sell specific item which is called specialty shops example iratu kadai halwa in Tirunelveli- Tamil Nadu

some shops have varieties of sweets example Halidrams in Nagpur.

Now let's correlate the above types of shops with our life, some people have a specific reason to be happy, some have varieties of Reasons to be happy, from the sweets we enjoy the taste and in life, we enjoy the moments.

In many sweet shops they don't only sell sweets they also sell savories, when we visit a house in India, we can Experience both sweet and savories being served by the host. When some people visit as a guest, they do go with a pack of sweets and savories.

Let's relate the above with our life; a good life is a mixture of happy & sad moments. In order to appreciate sweet, we should taste savory, similarly in order to appreciate happiness; we should also come across sad moments. In fact, when we eat certain savories, we tend to drink water.

In life when we face sad moments, we tend to improve our confidence and build our courage to keep going. As water can help us to move forward in our experience of eating, similarly certain Qualities that we develop in tough times can help us face our life.

Imagine a life only with sweets; you can visualize insulins and monthly medical check-ups.

Imagine a life only with savories; you can visualize ulcer tablets and rushing to rest room to and fro.

A sale in a sweet shop is more when they sell savories too, similarly, life becomes more memorable with happy moments as well as by facing tough situations.

What is your stock in your sweet shop called life?

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
