Who is a Leader?
On a rainy evening in a busy traffic, the vehicles are moving like a snail due to the damged road near the signal.
There is chaos due to vehicles trying to over take one another.
There is a luxury car in the front driven by a chauffeur and owned by a well-educated businessman who peeps outside and yells" it's a mad city"
Behind the luxury car is a Sedan which is driven by chauffeur & the car is owned by a Senior Manager in an MNC. He just takes his mobile and communicates he will be late.
Behind the sedan is Hatchback model car driven by a young team leader, who sees the traffic outside and starts selecting his radio channel.
Next, to the sedan, there was a young executive in a bike trying to find gaps and move forward.
When the bike moved forward and stops near the signal, there was a cyclist who works for daily wages found his way and parked his cycle near the median and went near the signal to help the traffic police to clear the road.
After easing the traffic he came back and took his cycle started pedaling.
Let's examine each character in this scenario.
Among the five who demonstrated Leadership Quality?
1. The well-educated businessman
2. Well qualified Senior Manager
3. Team Leader
4. Executive
5. Daily wage earner.
You would have guessed it right, it is the daily wage earner. I am sure the businessman would have come across a quote on leadership in his what's group.
The senior manager would have attended a Leadership program in a resort.
The Team leader would have been inducted on Leadership qualities.
The executive would have done an activity on Teamwork.
But none of these people used their leadership knowledge/ skill in the given situation.
Remember Leadership is not a Designation in a visiting card, it is a role you play in any Designation given to you in the visiting card
In this situation, the daily wage earner is the leader and there are many such Leaders who have been silently working towards organizational or society's development.
Let's look outside, get inspired inside
