Leadership Lessons through Pancha Bhoota
Pancha Bhoota or five great elements, also called as five physical elements, is a group of five basic elements These elements are:
· Earth
· Space
· Fire
· Water
· Air
Earth - It is solid, dense, stable, heavy and It constitutes the solid structures in the universe & our body. Like the qualities of an Earth the Leader should be:
- Solid on his/her foundation
- Densely related with his/her team members
- Stable In his/her mind
- Weigh heavy in terms of competency
Space - Present in hollow cavities within the body and empty areas of cosmos, transmits sound, smooth, subtle, Soft, abundant. Like the qualities of space, the Leader should possess the following qualities:
- Should Transmit the right information
- Be smooth enough to handle the problems
- Should be subtle enough to achieve
- Should be soft spoken
- Should have abundance mentality
Fire - It is heat, sharp, intense, light. It emits light and heat. like the qualities of fire the leader should possess the following qualities:
- Have the heat in him/her to perform as well as inspire others to perform
- Should have intense knowledge in his field
- Should show the light for others to progress
Water – Water is wet, cohesive or sticky, cool, soft and fit into any shape. Like the qualities of a water a leader should
- Leader should wet his /her feet by getting into the ground to understand the situation
- Leader should be cohesive enough to bring his /her team together
- Leader should stick to his/her value system
- Leader should be cool at times to reduce unwanted tension in workplace
- Leader should be soft enough to be approached
- Leader should fit it any circumstances and handle to situation
Air - Light, Mobile, Transparent are some of the properties of Air. Like the qualities of an air a leader should:
- Take things lightly in the event of failures and keep moving
- Should have the nature of mobility to go closer to the subordinates to relieve air of tension
- Should be transparent enough to avoid misunderstanding and to enhance the trust
As Paancha Bhoota is very vital for the existence of living things similarly the qualities from paancha Bhoota are very much necessary for the development of people.
Let it be Head of the Institution, let it be a Corporate Leader or a Political Leader the above-mentioned qualities determine the growth of an institution, organisation, and country as a whole.
The time has come to look for nature to learn and to prevent the same for us to exist as well as safely hand it over to the next generation.
