Value -Do we realise it after losing it?

The worth of a person, one's health, or any valuable possession often becomes apparent only after it's lost. This is a common experience that many of us can relate to.

In our world of advanced technology, there are instances when we forget to carry a simple pen with us. At times like these, when we find ourselves in need of a pen to jot down notes or sign a document, we often find ourselves frantically searching for one. It's during these moments that receiving a pen from someone, regardless of its monetary value, leads us to appreciate both the giver and the pen itself. Even a simple, inexpensive pen worth just a few rupees becomes incredibly valuable in such situations.

Taking a step back to analyze this, many of us often purchase low-cost pens and, in many cases, tend to misplace them or even give them away easily. This is usually because we perceive a pen's value solely based on its price. However, with time, we may realize that purchasing a more expensive pen could ensure we're less likely to misplace it. Despite the higher cost, the intention of preserving the pen's value becomes more significant. Consequently, it's the circumstances and our attitudes that truly determine the value of the pen rather than just its price tag.

Applying this example to our relationships and the help we receive from others, we often find ourselves forming a deeper appreciation for the individuals involved. Likewise, when we are struck down by illness and confined to bed, it's during these times that we truly recognize the value of our health.

The key lesson here is not to wait until something is lost to appreciate its value. Instead, we should allow our values to guide us, appreciating what we have rather than realizing its worth only after losing it.

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too.
