Trees and Human Beings

Trees and Human Beings

While a traveller was walking towards his destination, he found it was becoming darker and, it was also a no moon day, hence he decided to sleep on the roadside. He saw a person walking towards him and, when he came closer, seeing his attire, the traveller understood he was a monk.

The Monk found a plain place and spread his robes to take a nap, whereas the traveller went closer to a tree and decided to sleep underneath the tree, seeing this the Monk, approached the traveller while he was about to rest and, said: “My dear young man, never sleep under a tree in the night”.

The young man asked, “Can I know the reason?”

The Monk said:

At night, photosynthesis stops, and respiration continues in plants. That means that oxygen is not produced by the plants at night. So, because of respiration, oxygen is utilised, and carbon dioxide is continuously produced. But, during the day, carbon dioxide is used for photosynthesis. That is, the plants leave carbon dioxide at night. Based on, this it is said that at night if you sleep under the tree, you will not get oxygen, which can cause breathing problem, suffocation etc.

The young man took his belonging and started walking with the monk and, they both started introducing themselves.

The Monk said:

There is a similarity between the tree and the human beings, both require time for themselves, as a tree requires night-time for respiration, the human beings require; breathing time to overcome their problems/challenges, during those time when we expect people to help us or solve our problem, it is like expecting oxygen from the tree during the night.

There is a time to extend help and seek help; if you understand this, you can help others and get others to help

The Modes of Persuasion The modes of persuasion, often referred to as ethical strategies or rhetorical appeals, are devices in rhetoric that classify the speaker's appeal to the audience. They are: ethos, pathos, logos, and the less-used Kairos & telos The above model has been used by Advertisement agencies to grab the attention of the viewers and finally bring them to the purchase desk or use the cart in shopping sites. If we carefully examine the model, it has a sound application in running an effective training program too. Part-1-Ethos Application of the model in training program Ethos- Trainer Introduction There are organization where trainer and his credibility are introduced, but there are occasions where trainer does a self-intro and starts the program.
