Leadership beyond Transaction
Leadership goes
beyond simply guiding people—empowering them to discover the leader within
themselves. When we view leadership solely as managing or leading people, it
becomes a series of transactional activities. Instead, leadership development
should focus on mastering the art of inspiring and earning the trust of others.
By steering learning in this direction, we uncover many qualities to explore.
Inspiring others isn't just about words; it's about taking tangible actions,
embodying the right qualities, and demonstrating the ability to navigate
challenging situations. Throughout history, we've witnessed individuals who
didn't just speak but also courageously confronted oppression.
Trust
breeds trust. A
leader can cultivate others' trust by placing trust in the individuals under
their guidance and by embracing accountability for their subordinates'
responsibilities.
To cultivate
leadership skills, a leader must concentrate on becoming an inspiring figure
and someone who can be relied upon by others.
Take a moment with
pen and paper to reflect on how you've inspired others through actions, not
just words, and how you've earned people's trust over time. This exercise will
help you identify some of the outstanding qualities you possess as a leader.
