Selfless Souls
They stood for long hours despite knowing they would be
vulnerable to knee problems or varicose veins, so that we could settle down in
our lives.
They could have pursued lucrative careers to improve their own
standard of living, but they chose instead to ensure we have a quality of life
worth celebrating.
They are the ones who felt sad when our grades went down, and happy
when our grades went up.
They were not just parents to their own kids at home; they were
parents to many, with love in their hearts.
They are the ones who tell the world, "That young IAS
officer was my student," or "The man who wrote that historic judgment
was my student"—and they take pride in celebrating our success.
They are selfless souls who live with a passion to teach and
hearts to care.
Wishing all my teachers on this Teachers' Day—you who removed
the ignorance in me, injected confidence in me, and walk with pride knowing
that I am not just literate, but a man of values.
Because they toiled in the classroom, we are now living with
dignity in society.
Thank you, teachers, for what I
am today. Happy Teachers' Day!
