The Power of Words
Words are not just combinations of letters. They can build or
destroy our lives, depending on what we read, what we listen to, and how we
perceive and act on them. The words spoken by Hitler could have moved young
people to join the Nazi Party and support genocide. The words spoken by Nelson
Mandela or Martin Luther King Jr. could have moved a young person to fight for
rights without taking up arms. Words are powerful enough to change our lives.
Some words are therapeutic; they heal a broken heart. Some words
are sparks that motivate us to do what we once thought impossible. Some words
are pure love, kindling love within us. Some words help us discover who we are.
Some words are like arrows that pierce our ego. Some words are like erasers
that wipe away our mistakes. Some words are like bridges that reconnect broken
relationships. Some words are like carving knives that carve the best out of
us. The list goes on. Pay attention to the words you feel you need to shape
your life, and begin listening to, reading, and reinforcing them so you can
become what you ought to be.
If you found the above words to be good enough to start afresh, start
writing a fresh chapter with the words that define who you want to become.
