The word Biryani for some is yummy that fills their tummy. There are different varieties of Biryani from different parts of the country with its own style of making. Similarly, performance feedback is given by many people in their own style.
There is something common in Biryani that is the usage of spice, though there are many types of spice, based on the origin of Biryani the spices are used. Similarly, there are many ways of giving performance feedback, but it also depends upon the type of industry.

While we eat Biryani, we focus on the rice and the meat/Vegetables, we do come across certain spices, which we might set aside. Here is a question to ponder, when we set aside those spicy ingredients, why should we use it in Biryani?

The Answer is Biryani gets its taste from the spice that was used while cooking the Biryani, though the spicy ingredients are uneatable but it has played its part by adding taste and aroma.
When it comes to performance feedback, we might receive both positive & improvement feedback, but our objective should be to receive both & improve ourselves.
Positive Feedback is like the rice and Areas of improvement is like the spicy ingredients, though we don't eat those ingredients but still we know its importance. Similarly, we might set aside areas of improvement, but remember that these are the areas that adds to our competency and our character.

We appreciate the taste of Biryani based on the way the ingredients are well blended Similarly, let's appreciate a performance feedback that is a combination of positives and areas of improvement.
