Forgiveness
Is forgiving easy? Should we continue to live with hate, revenge, and anger? Ultimately, the choice to forgive lies with the person who has been wronged.
When we closely
examine the word "forgive," we see that it is composed of two parts:
"for" and "give." The "give" in
"forgive" represents a gift we can offer ourselves—a priceless gift
of peace. The "for" signifies that this act is for our benefit. When
we forgive, we are not merely doing a favour for others; we are giving
ourselves the gift of peace, allowing us to let go of thoughts about the person
who wronged us.
To find peace within
yourself, start by forgiving those who have hurt you. Let’s remember that we
should not waste our lives on people who do not contribute positively to our
well-being. However, without forgiving and forgetting them, we cannot truly
live in harmony. Therefore, forgiving others is a crucial step in healing ourselves.
