Every Day Is a Learning Day – So Why Dedicate One Just to Learning in Sales? -Part-4

Every Day Is a Learning Day – So Why Dedicate One Just to Learning in Sales? -Part-4

What methodologies can you use to run a truly effective learning day in sales?

Let’s be honest for a moment.

Bad content, delivered brilliantly, can hook an audience for a while.
But good content, delivered poorly? That can shut down your audience's mind in just a few minutes.

Yes, content is the king.
But methodology is the queen – and she often runs the kingdom.

Blend Your Methodologies

A great learning experience is like a well-mixed recipe. It blends multiple methodologies that appeal to different generations and learning styles. A truly effective sales training session should include a mix of the following:

·       Presentation – To share key tips and frameworks

·       Case studies – To discover what went well, what failed, and why

·       Videos – To motivate and bring stories to life

·       Discussion – To let the team share from their own experience

·       Role-plays – To help salespeople review and refine their approach

·       Quiz – To measure memory and reinforce learning

·       Storytelling – To influence both logically and emotionally

·       Sharing of experience – Each salesperson shares a real customer story

·       Guest speaker – To bring a fresh, outside perspective

Think of It Like a Buffet

When your training is blended this way, it's no longer a dry meal – it becomes a sumptuous buffet. There's something for everyone, and no one leaves hungry.

So go ahead. Blend your content. Give your team a feast they’ll remember.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
