Eyes and Ears are not mere sensory Organs

Eyes and Ears are not mere sensory Organs

When we fail to see what we should, we assign meaning to what we do see. That meaning is not what we saw—it is our perception of what we saw. Similarly, we don’t listen to what we should; instead, we create meaning from what we hear to either defend or respond.

The very purpose of our sensory organs is undermined by our attitude toward what we see and hear. We are fooled by images shown to us or news we listen to. Sometimes we fail to notice the beauty in an image out of negligence, and we miss the intended message due to misinterpretation.

Next time you see something, pay more attention. Differentiate between what is fake and what is real. See the beauty hidden in the image, cross-check the so-called facts, listen for hidden agendas behind the message, and tune into the emotions beneath the words.

Eyes are meant to see the truth and admire beauty. Ears are meant to listen to the truth and connect with emotions.
