The Golden Standards -Akshya Tritiya Special

Why Is Akshaya Tritiya Celebrated?

Akshaya Tritiya is regarded as one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu and Jain calendars. Why? Because any good deed performed on this day is believed to bring everlasting—or "imperishable"—results. The word Akshaya means never-diminishing, and that’s exactly what this day promises: endless blessings for sincere actions.

·       So, what makes this day so special? Several legendary events are tied to Akshaya Tritiya:

·       The beginning of the Treta Yuga, the second of four cosmic ages.

·       The birth of Lord Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

·       The descent of the sacred Ganges River to Earth.

·       In Jainism, the first Tirthankara, Rishabhanatha, ended a year-long fast on this day.

·       There are also beloved stories from the Mahabharata and beyond: the Akshaya Patra—the magical, never-empty vessel given to Draupadi—and the tale of Sudama, whose visit to Lord Krishna turned his poverty into prosperity. These legends link Akshaya Tritiya to eternal abundance and good fortune.

Because of this, the day is considered ideal for buying gold, launching new ventures, making investments, and performing acts of charity.

The Golden Standards

On Akshaya Tritiya, you’ll see crowds at jewellery shops and a flurry of activity on gold-buying apps. But while you’re adding gold to your collection, here are a few “golden words” to remember—words that can help you set truly golden standards for life.

·       Let your words be like gold – valuable, and growing even more precious with time.

·       Listen to golden words – and apply them in your life. They’ll add value to everything you do, day by day.

·       Let your thoughts be like gold – pure and strong. They’ll increase your worth in every effort you make.

·       Never forget to recollect the golden moments of your life – they’ll give you the strength to face present and future challenges.

Let these words echo in your ears (even the ones that wear golden earrings). Let them stay close to your heart (where a gold chain may rest). Let them be at your fingertips (where your wedding ring shines).

Remember: you don’t need to possess gold to lead a golden life. All you truly need is a golden heart.

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
