Connect with your Uniqueness

 Connect with your Uniqueness

Although we recognize that each of us is unique, our desire to conform to societal expectations and to belong to a group often leads us to make compromises and fit into established systems. However, we eventually realize that the cost of fitting in goes beyond monetary concerns; it impacts our lives profoundly. Many people are living lives that do not reflect their true desires. They engage in constant comparisons and compete with others to either measure up to what others have achieved or to feel superior. This mentality often results in feelings of failure or success.

Once we accept our own uniqueness, as well as that of others, life no longer resembles a racetrack. Instead, it becomes a shared path where we can walk together, allow space for one another, pause to wait for others, and engage in meaningful conversations. With this mindset, we won't be swept away by the definitions of success or failure; we will simply flow like a stream.

Reflect on how you view life: do you see it as a racetrack or a walking area? If you perceive it as a racetrack, it’s essential to take time for self-reflection to understand your uniqueness. If you see it as a walking area, find a partner to share your thoughts and experiences.

From our school days to the present, we face immense pressure. However, what has happened in the past is history, and what will happen in the future should not remain a mystery. Define yourself, and continually fine-tune your connection with the unique person inside you.

Connect with yourself to discover your uniqueness

Listen, Understand and Respond

Listen, Understand and Respond Most of the time, people listen to respond rather than to understand. By the time the other person finishes speaking, the listener is often already formulating a response. Let’s explore what happens in such situations. While listening, we may be trying to engage our logical brain to recall our memories and creativity for a response, or we may be accessing our emotional brain to defend ourselves against what is being said. For example, if one person talks about ways another could improve, the listener might offer excuses such as a lack of time, resources, or support. Alternatively, they may bring up personal emotions, like health or family issues. These reactions often occur while the other person is still speaking, leading to a decreased understanding and an increased eagerness to defend one’s position. During this type of conversation, the listener may appear restless, exhibiting a lack of eye contact or head nodding. In such interactions, th...
