Mental Storage
When a storeroom in a
house or factory is overstocked, it not only becomes difficult to retrieve the
stock but also leads to a shortage of storage space, resulting in confusion and
production delays. Let us draw the similarity between the storeroom and our
mind. When we start filling our minds with unwanted thoughts, worries, and
pessimism, our minds become difficult to function, which hinders our ability to
think clearly and make informed decisions.
As too much stock in
a storage might lead to wastage and finally be disposed of due to expiry date
as garbage or scrap, which might lead to a reduction in profitability,
similarly, our unwanted thoughts might result in wastage of time, deteriorate
our health and make it challenging to live in present
As the storeroom
requires maintenance, our mind also requires maintenance, which should be done
in the form of decluttering and practising mindfulness.
The quality of the
food and the quality of the product are determined by how well they are stocked
and maintained; similarly, our quality of life is determined by our quality of
thinking.
