Are we creating obedient followers or Leaders?
In an organization, some
managers micromanage. They eventually increase frustration and irritation among
their subordinates, pushing them to the point of quitting.
Some managers manage
their subordinates in ways that fulfil the organisation’s goals, but their
subordinates don’t feel connected to the system. They think used merely as a
means to achieve those goals.
Then there are the
few managers who lead their subordinates toward the organization’s goals while
also helping them identify their strengths and weaknesses. These managers help
them utilize their strengths, overcome their weaknesses, kindle their passion,
and nurture them toward becoming future leaders.
Many organizations
survive due to micromanagement, but very few thrive. Thriving comes from
leadership qualities that are instilled in every layer of the organization.
If you are a manager,
an entrepreneur, or a parent, read the above once again. Reflect on how you are
dealing with your subordinates or children. You will realize whether you are
producing obedient followers or influential leaders.
Remember, we are
human beings who wish to enjoy the freedom we are born with, not to become
slaves to a system.
