Is Disruptive Innovation New?

The world has evolved and Disruption has been one of the reasons to evolve. Today we see a lot of people worrying about disruptive Innovation, there can be many reasons, but to keep it short, here are two reasons listed below

·         Every one of us are updated minute by minute, hence we quickly know what is happening around us

·         Yes, some of us are the victims of disruption, some of us are the reasons behind it

Let's take a quick look at the disruptive Innovation that happened around us

·         Trolley bags disrupted Porters, but we were rescued from the pain of carrying heavy luggage and the stress of bargaining with porters

·         Photography was a rich man's hobby, but today every one of us are photographers, Digital cameras disrupted the film roll industry

·         Listening to music was an expensive affair but today we are accessing the world music in our palm.  Records, cassettes, CDs and many storage device industries got disrupted over a period of time

·         Owning a Library was a pride but today we have Amazon Kindle in our hand, a massive Disruption in the book printing industry

·         Booking a travel ticket was a pain, but today we are doing at our comfort in our hall, travel agents are no more but travel portals are everywhere

The list is long, every era has seen a Disruption and today it is not an exception.

 There are Industries which was disrupted but they innovated, Radio station was slowing down FM changed the game. Stage comedy shows was disrupted, but stand-up comedy found its way, there are many such industries which faced Disruption but they are moving out of comfort zone.

We were the beneficiaries of disruption in many occasions, we will continue to be one.

Let's be ready for new disruptions that will change the way we think, decide and act
