Silence is not Surrender
Don't read people's silence as weakness. Silence expresses a
monk's state of mind—preparing the Samurai within. Silence is a conscious
decision that prevents a person from being triggered and reacting impulsively.
In silence, the mind does not
think about how to react, but how to respond—through strategising, planning,
and executing flawlessly. The monk's state exists to strengthen the Samurai
inside.
After a long silence, the monk
takes the back seat, and the Samurai takes the front. Once the Samurai emerges,
battles become shorter, attacks grow stronger, and the outcome favours the
Samurai. When the war ends, the Samurai steps back, and the monk resumes the
forefront.
When dealing with harsh, selfish
people, or those who want to mentally harass you, be a monk on the outside—and
let the Samurai do the work behind the scenes. One sharpened saw cuts without
brutality; similarly, one sharp word will shut the other person's mouth.
