The Architecture of Success
If we fail to fail, we are
failing to succeed. Dictionaries define failure as the opposite of success, but
it is an integral part of it. If a successful person is a book, that book will
have chapters of ideas, struggles, setbacks, and failures. Those who embark on
the journey of achievement and are willing to face failure are already on the
path to success, but those who fear failure are nowhere near it.
The road to success is not paved
with a red carpet; rather, it is a path that has yet to be laid. Its raw
ingredients are ideas, risk, struggles, setbacks, backstabs, rejection,
insults, and failures. These factors strengthen your ability to
move forward.
If you have decided to achieve
something and the fear of failure is holding you back, all you need to do is
fail first, so that fear loses its grip. Once you taste failure, you will
realize it was not bitter medicine; it was a nutrient building you toward
success.
There is a saying: "Ships
are safe in the harbour, but that is not what they are built for."
Similarly, it is safe to stay in your comfort zone, but that is not our
permanent place to reside. It is merely a motel where we can rest and re-energise
before starting our journey toward what we truly want to achieve.
With a fixed mindset, the
comfort zone looks comfortable, and challenges look like problems that hold us
back; with a growth mindset, the comfort zone looks uncomfortable, and problems
look like challenges that push us to face them with ease and grit.
Ideate, explore, fall, and
rise—that is what has built nations and organisations, and that is exactly what
will build you and me.
