*Full stop to Weapons*

Envisioning Peace in the World

*Predicting wars, Stocking Weapons*

If the nations can predict wars and stock weapons, why can’t the same nations predict Pandemics and equip themselves with medical facilities that can accommodate patients during outbreaks. Yes, I can understand what do you feel after reading the above statement, you would have thought it is easy to sit and pass comments, but the reality is different.

I do agree with whatever feelings you have about the statement made by me, just spend some time on few more paragraphs to understand the rationale behind the above statement.

*Wars in the Past and Present*

The world has witnessed wars and invasion for many years, the net result was, death of people. The soldiers were called martyrs and common men were called civilian casualties, but the ultimate end was death.

After witnessing  Invasion of India, two world wars, Apartheid in South Africa, Vietnam war, War between India and Pakistan, war between India and China, Civil unrest in Rwanda, Ethnic war in Srilanka, Attacks on Gaza strip, recent Attack on Syria and list is endless, still the Nations are yet to come to terms with each other to stop wars, the reason can be plenty but if there is one reason to end the wars is “Humanity”.

The world cannot keep losing its men on the battle field and its’ citizens for Arial shelling, we cannot keep witnessing high end missiles flying with accuracy to hit the enemy location with precision where a three years child’s body is torn into pieces. We have seen enough of deaths in various countries in both the world wars, these deaths should keep reinforcing us for creating a peaceful world and not powerful nations.

Has the thirst for upgrading weapons has ended? No, it has grown many folds, today countries like US, China, Saudi Arabia, India, France Etc. have weapons which can wipe the human race, what are these countries communicating to the world? Are they proving they a superior than others? Yes, they are superior as per the definitions of International bodies who rate them on military power, but in reality, they are haunted with fear of being attacked. The mark of courage is being good, when things are bad around you.

*Nation and Holy Scriptures*

If these nations believe in their holy scriptures and the word of God, I don’t see any reason they will keep investing their time, People, money and efforts in manufacturing, trading and procuring weapons, by doing so they neither respect their holy scriptures nor love the mankind. They are just old type of barbarians dressed in suits.

*Military Expenditure*

Total world Military expenditure rose to $1822 billion in 2018, representing an increase of 2.6 per cent from 2017, according to new data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). The five biggest spenders in 2018 were the United States, China, Saudi Arabia, India & France, which together accounted for 60 per cent of global military spending.

The comprehensive annual update of the SIPRI Military Expenditure Database is accessible at www.sipri.org (Stockholm, 29 April 2019)

*Impact of Corona*

Today Corona has proved to be threat to the mankind and we across deaths every day. Countries like US who has the best health care system is running short of ventilators and it has started witnessing death, though in India it came later and we have taken  drastic measure by shutting down the Nation, but it doesn’t mean we are equipped to treat people, if the outbreak increases.

At this juncture, it is the people who are sacrificing their income, struggling to meet their day to day needs and majority are keeping their finger crossed about what is in for them in the future.

The experts can call it is a new normal, the government can announce package, but does it mean we are good at handling medical emergencies? We need to think twice.

*Virus is an auditor appointed by the nature to evaluate human preparedness towards pandemics* and this is not the first time the nature has done it, has the world nation taken lessons? Some nations have taken it, but many are yet to equip themselves. The Irony is, Countries like US, India, china, Pakistan are getting geared up faced the war, but today they have succumbed to a tiny virus, which has proved them wrong on their stand on war & spending on weapons

Hope after this outbreak world Leaders should come together with an agenda called Peace and commit their action towards peace.

There is enough of differences due to religion, ethnicity, caste and creed the time has come to realise a grand truth that whether we are black or white, the blood is red, let’s not see our children dying in Gaza strip, let’s not see soldiers battling in Siachen the coldest battle point in the world

If there is one reason why a gun should be used, is to bring down the terrorist and not the Nations.

*Remember, Sometimes, it is easy to discuss border issues with enemy nations over a cup of coffee, but it is never possible to discuss a Pandemic issue with a virus over a cup of coffee*

*Redefining Nations*

The time has come to redefine what is developed, developing, underdeveloped nations. A nation with large military force, with insufficient hospitals beds should not be called as a developed nation, a country with highest Defense budget, with insufficient ventilators to save the human beings should not be called as developed nation, a country which has insufficient medical facilities but has Deadly Missiles in their borders should no more be called as developing nation.

A nation is for the people and by the people. If the current world Leaders feels they are running out of ideas to create a peaceful world, we suggest them retire peacefully and handle the nation to Peace Lovers.

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.

Being Jaby is being a fine human being.   L&D Global Chennai Chapter was instrumental in bringing Jaby closer to my heart, our journey was not too long, but it was filled with fun, humour, joy and learning too. When Jaby was present, dullness was absent. He filled the hall with his sense of humour, and his thoughts were deep-rooted in bringing the best out of every human. Jaby was the most admired person in any forum; when Jaby picked the mic, the audience pulled themselves to the edge of the chair. Jaby was casual in his appearance, but he was a thorough professional everywhere. During COVID, if there was one person whom I counted on to help people, it was Jaby; his car was filled with masks, sanitizer and an oxygen concentrator. His social bent of mind made him a good Samaritan. Jaby was a curious child, whenever we both met, he was curious to improve his skills and knowledge, and his quest for development was limitless. Jaby and I collaborated in the year ...
