Unit-4

Bosses demands Respect whereas Leaders gives Respect

The above difference is written with the following context:
The bosses expect their subordinate to respect them first, due to the position they hold, Whereas Leaders gives respect to their subordinate irrespective of Position they hold.
The Bosses gives importance for the position they hold, whereas Leader give importance for the people who work with them.
The power is used by the bosses to gain respect, whereas power is used by the Leaders to empower their subordinates.
When respect is expected it is faked but when it is given, it is genuinely reciprocated.
Leaders gain respect for deeds they do and values they leave to the next generation.

Ask yourself the following questions

1.   Do you greet your subordinate before they greet you?
2.   Do you use your power to handle an argumentative subordinate?
3.   Do you assign a work after checking your subordinates schedule?
4.   Do you encourage alternative perspectives from your subordinates?
5.    Do you expect your subordinate to report to you on a daily basis?
6.   Do you project your subordinate’s initiatives & achievements to your manager?

The above questions might give you an idea of whether you are demanding respect or giving respect. True Leader inspires people by respecting them and giving them an opportunity to express.

One of the sincerest forms of Respect is actually listening to what another has to say
