Leadership Simplified-Part-11- Interaction with a Monk

Interaction with a Monk
This is a question and Answer session with a Monk, to develop one’s Leadership qualities. A Leader from a corporate organisation meets a Monk to clarify some of the doubts that has been bothering him for some time, the conversation goes like this

Leader: Guruji, I am not able to manage some of my team members
Monk:   Gentleman, some can be managed, some should be led, different people require different approach. Leadership is not only about your management skills; it is about your ability to develop and lead others
Leader: Guruji, sometimes my senior managers are very demanding, how can I handle them?

Monk: Remember, every one of us have our own limitation, but never limit your ability to Learn from them. In short, if you are not able to fulfil their demand, stand in front of them as a Learner

Leader: Guruji, Sometimes, I doubt whether I am suitable to be a Leader

Monk:  Your Seniors would have seen your potential and hence he would have promoted you, don’t prove them wrong, with such doubts. Keep improving yourself to keep proving them right

Leader: How can I handle failure in my role?

Monk: Success and Failures are perception about the results, there is another name for it- Learning, when you learn from your Failures and stop repeating the mistakes, that’s wisdom

Leader: What is the best Leadership quality, I should possess to succeed?
Monk: The best Leadership quality you should possess is to stop focusing on your success and focus on others success
Leader: is there any final word for me?
Leadership role is to create Leaders, not a role to be Glorified
