Leader Leads from the Front, Leads from Besides and Leads from the Back

A Leader Understands the subordinates and knows when to lead from the front, when to Lead from besides and when to Lead from the back.  Leaders who can understand such situations wins the respect & Trust of their team members. Here are the situations in which Leaders lead in different ways:

Leaders Leads from the Front- When their subordinates are novice i.e. when their skills and knowledge is untested. Leaders know When, why and how to demonstrate their experience in such situation. such an act will increase the trust between the Leader and the subordinates.

Leaders Leads from Beside – When the subordinates move from novice to a dependent stage, Leaders walks besides them to handle unforeseen difficulties and challenges that comes all the way. Such an act will help the subordinates improve their ability and reduce their dependence on their Leaders

Leaders Leads from the Back- When the subordinates are confident about their performance, they are seen as an experts by the stake holders, in such a stage Leaders leads from the back and stand behind the subordinates for their decisions and actions. At this stage leaders live with a principle that

Responsibility can be Delegated but not the Accountability.

Remember, some of your subordinates wants you to stand in the front as a Teacher, some wants you to hold your hands as a Mentor and some wants you to stand as a Moral support, identify who requires what.

True Leaders Lead from various positions, irrespective of their Position
