Leadership is a Human Factor
Post the
world wars, the world of Management has been
debating who is a right Leader:
debating who is a right Leader:
·
An Autocratic Leader,
·
A Democratic Leader or
·
A Free Rein Leader.
After
some years the difference between a Boss & Leader was widely discussed,
experts like Paul Hersey & Ken Blanchard gave us a Valuable Model called
Situational Leadership.
Before
few Years Jim Collins gave us Level 5 Leadership and John Maxwell gave has 5
Levels of Leadership, But the bottom line remains the same, it is the human
factor that is respected in the Leader more than the power he/she holds.
Today’s
workforce is a Knowledge force; they would like to be led and not bossed. They
want their Leaders to inspire them, not to command them. They are expecting
Intellectual Stimulation not just external motivation. Freedom to Initiate and
Innovate are one of their prime needs, they respect a work culture where Leader
stops micromanagement and gives them broader definition of the task.
Remember,
your functional skills promoted you to the next level where you were designated
as a Leader, but it is your man management skills that determines whether you
will be perceived as Leader or not.
The Mark of the True Leadership is seen in the
Human Side of the Leader
