Less than a minute Lesson-2889 Focus on Character

Less than a minute Lesson-2889 Focus on Character As we work to advance our careers by enhancing our skills, we must also focus equally on developing our character. People often judge and respect us more for our character than for our competencies. The fundamental principle in life is that individuals connect better with those who demonstrate humanity rather than just technical proficiency. M.L. Less than a minute Lesson-2888 Distance vs Experience

Less than a minute Lesson-2888 Distance vs Experience If you find the distance bothersome, you will never truly enjoy the journey to your destination. It is better to focus on the experience rather than the distance, as experience is a teacher with the ability to transform our lives. M.L. Narendra Kumar Instivate Learning Solutions PVT LTD Director

Knife and People

Knife and People A sharp knife in the hands of someone who doesn’t know how to use it effectively has no right to blame the knife. Likewise, a dull knife in the hands of a skilled user is not to be blamed either. A well-sharpened knife in the hands of a competent person can achieve the desired results. This concept doesn't just apply to knives; it also reflects on team dynamics. Some subordinates may be exceptionally talented ("sharp"), but if their managers do not know how to utilise their skills effectively, the potential goes untapped. Conversely, managers might be effective in their roles but fail to develop and sharpen their subordinates. We can unlock our full potential by sharpening ourselves and helping one another improve according to the expectations we hold for each other. M.L. Narendra Kumar

Deadline

Deadline The word "deadline" might sound ruthless, but let us not forget that deadlines have brought order to the world by ensuring that products, services, and infrastructure are developed on time. Can we imagine a world without deadlines, especially when it came to developing a vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic? Next time someone asks for a deadline, try not to get irritated; remember that you have the power to define the deadline, estimate the work involved, and communicate your timeline. If a deadline is set by someone else, engage in a dialogue to understand how you can meet it and negotiate for more time if necessary. When you need to complete an official or personal task, set a deadline and start working towards it. A simple analogy is that without knowing the end time and destination, no runner would want to participate in a marathon. Deadlines serve as motivation to act swiftly and consistently. Are you due to complete a report? Are you overdue for cleanin...

Character Assassination

Character Assassination The character of a person can often be judged by how they speak about others in their absence. If someone indulges in character assassination, it’s a sign that we should maintain our distance, as we might be next on their list. A person of good character helps others overcome their mistakes and refrains from speaking negatively about them when they are not present. Not everyone will accept a one-sided story, and many people prefer to avoid negativity and gossip. We have the choice to discuss either productive topics or the qualities of a person that can inspire us. Let’s not waste our time speaking ill of others in their absence or dwelling on negatives. Engaging in such discussions not only fills our minds with negativity but also wastes our present time, which neither corrects past mistakes nor helps build a better future. M.L. Narendra Kumar

Building and Life

Building and Life A good building is the result of the collaboration between various professionals. An effective architect handles the design, a construction company ensures stability and quality, an interior designer adds elegance, maintenance keeps it looking new, and housekeeping ensures cleanliness. If any of these roles fail, the building may not be as appealing as it could be. Now, let’s relate this to life. We are the architects of our own lives. We need to design our lives in a way that suits us, laying a strong foundation with our values and purpose. We must build with clear goals, well-defined plans, and actionable steps. It's essential to maintain our well-being, keeping ourselves free from physical illness and mental worries. Just like housekeeping ensures a clean environment, we should regularly cleanse both our body and mind to achieve a fresh outlook on life. A well-maintained building, regardless of its age, can remain livable and retain its good resale valu...

Less than a minute Lesson-2887 The sun is the mother of Vitamin D.

Less than a minute Lesson-2887 The sun is the mother of Vitamin D. If we view the rising sun as a disturbance, we may be at risk of vitamin D deficiency. However, if we view the sun as an opportunity to wake up, we can avoid this deficiency.   The wise person rises early to enjoy the free supply of vitamin D, while the lazy one goes to the clinic to get a prescription to buy vitamin D supplements from a pharmacy. Generating Peace

Generating Peace There is no point in losing your peace in one place and searching for it in another. If you have lost your peace at home, work on improving your home environment and relationships with family members. If the issue is at your workplace, address it there. Nature—whether it’s the shade of a tree, a forest, a riverbank, a seashore, or mountains—does not create peace. Peace is disrupted from within, and it needs to be built from within. Running away to a serene location, quitting your family, or leaving your job is often perceived as an act of cowardice. While it may physically remove you from the situation, mentally, you will still be haunted. When peace diminishes, think carefully before you quit. Those who choose to face life’s challenges are the people who can cultivate peace within themselves. They understand that peace is essential for overcoming life's challenges. M.L. Narendra Kumar

House Vs Home

House Vs Home When you enter a place where you eat your meals and sleep, that place is your house. However, when you enter a place where you cherish conversations with your family members and peacefully rest at night, that place is a home. Continue talking, connecting, and understanding. When you enter a place where you and other family members are busy with your gadgets, that place is a house. In contrast, when you all come together to share light-hearted conversations about the family's well-being, that place is a home. Don't let gadgets ruin your family time. When you enter a place burdened by worries from work and feel like being alone, that place is a house. Conversely, when you enter a space without the baggage of work, ready to spend quality time with loved ones, that place is a home. Once you leave work, there should be no space for it in your mind. When you enter a place where everyone is focused on building their own future, that place is a house. However, w...

Less than a minute Lesson-2886 DO

Less than a minute Lesson-2886 DO Having a To-do List doesn't guarantee that we will do what is on the list. To do so, we need to get into action.   Every small step you take toward achieving your goal will bring you closer to what you want to do. If you had planned to run, run, that's how marathons are won. M.L. Narendra Kumar Instivate Learning Solutions PVT LTD Director

Less than a minute Lesson-2885 Finding Fault with others

Less than a minute Lesson-2885 Finding Fault with others It's easy to point out the faults in others, but correcting those faults without causing hurt is much more challenging. Before attempting to address someone else's mistake, take the time to prepare your approach. This way, your method of correction itself won’t be seen as a fault. M.L. Narendra Kumar Instivate Learning Solutions PVT LTD Director

Less than a minute Lesson-2884 Learning awaits

Less than a minute Lesson-2884 Learning awaits Those who perceive each day as an opportunity for learning never worry about mistakes or failures. They focus on how they can learn from these experiences and greet each new day with a passion to apply what they've learned and make progress toward the next step in their lives. Let's wake up with a sense of curiosity and learning, rather than simply viewing it as just another day. M.L. Narendra Kumar Instivate Learning Solutions PVT LTD Director

Adversity, Threats and Opportunities

Adversity, Threats and Opportunities When we wait for opportunities, we often fail to realize that opportunities are created by us. A wise person understands how to turn situations into opportunities, rather than simply waiting and doing nothing. They know that unless they actively engage in what needs to be done, they will never attract opportunities toward them. Those who see adversity as an opportunity develop vaccines in the lab. Those who view summer as an opportunity start selling juices on the roadside. Likewise, those who see AI as an opportunity rather than a threat continue to learn from it. Let's ask ourselves how we perceive adversity and technological advancement. Are we viewing them as opportunities or threats? The choice is ours, and that choice will define our lives. Let us not wait; all we need to do is seize what comes our way and continue building on them. That's how empires are built and how achievers succeed in life. M.L. Narendra Kumar

Count your blessings

Count your blessings Some people count the cash in their hands, while others count the days left until vacation. Some tally the steps needed to climb a mountain, and others keep track of the number of customers who walk through the door. Some count the pills required to complete their medication, while others mark their answers on an exam sheet. Some monitor the figures in their financial books, and some count the days passing by. However, many people overlook the blessings they have in their lives. While we often keep track of various aspects of life, we should also take a moment to appreciate what we are grateful for. Those who express gratitude for what they possess will develop the right attitude toward what they lack and will approach their aspirations with a positive mindset. M.L. Narendra Kumar .

The Unseen Harvest: Why Trying is Everything

The Unseen Harvest: Why Trying is Everything Some people never try, fearing failure. Others try, and sometimes, they fail. There is a profound difference between these two paths. It is always better to try and fail, for in the attempt, correction and learning take root. Think of your potential as a plot of land. Trying is the act of nurturing the soil. It requires effort—you till the earth, you remove the rocks, you enrich it with compost. This process of preparation might seem arduous with no immediate reward, but it is transformative. You are making the ground fertile, ready to receive a seed. This nurtured soil holds infinite promise. In time, what grows might become a crop that sustains you (a practical success), a tree that offers shade (a lasting legacy), or a flower that beautifies the world (a work of art or an act of kindness). The specific outcome is unknown, but one thing is guaranteed: something of value will grow. It will either feed your spirit, provide shelte...

Navigating the Unpredictable: Your Journey to Resilience

Navigating the Unpredictable: Your Journey to Resilience Life’s journey is not meant to be a smooth, straight highway. The moment we become consumed by forces beyond our control, we risk losing sight of our own agency. We drown in a sea of worries, sacrificing the precious present and jeopardising the future. The truth is, adversity is not a detour from the path; it is the path itself. Each challenge is a teacher in disguise, guiding us to become wiser, stronger navigators of our own lives.   The Road: A Lesson in Awareness The road of life is riddled with potholes and sharp bends. These are not mere obstacles; they are vital reminders to slow down and proceed with caution. They teach us that pace is as important as progress. The unexpected twists force us to be present, to grip the wheel of our focus tighter, and to understand that we cannot always see what lies ahead. The lesson is not to avoid the bumps, but to learn how to drive over them without losing our way. ...

Nurturing Your Idea Garden: From a Trickle to a Flood

Nurturing Your Idea Garden: From a Trickle to a Flood Every thought you have is valuable. Instead of discarding ideas, treat them like  seeds . Create a "Seeds" folder—digital or physical—and plant every idea there. When you face a creative drought, return to this garden. You'll find that old seeds can spark new growth, and when combined with fresh thoughts, they can evolve into something more robust. Remember, each idea is the unique product of your brain's complex chemistry. By saving and nurturing them, you cultivate a portfolio of potential that can one day be a game-changer. The Two Creative Personalities We often see two types of people: The Artesian Well:  Those with a constant, overflowing stream of ideas. The Oasis:  Those who generate fewer ideas, but with great care. The Artesian Well, blessed with abundance, often undervalues its flow, letting precious ideas evaporate unnoticed. The Oasis, aware of its scarcity, cherishes each i...

Less than a minute Lesson-2883 Don’t become old before ageing starts.

Less than a minute Lesson-2883 Don’t become old before ageing starts. Ageing is a natural and graceful process. Unfortunately, many people often begin to feel old before the ageing process truly starts because they focus too much on disease, diet, and fears about the future. It's better to maintain a youthful mindset and engage in conversations that promote positivity and keep us feeling young, rather than dwelling on worries and fears about ageing. M.L. Less than a minute Lesson-2882 Feedback- Accept-Change and Improve

Less than a minute Lesson-2882 Feedback- Accept-Change and Improve When we decide to accept feedback aimed at improvement, we take the first step toward personal development. This process involves receiving, acknowledging, and making changes to ourselves. Once we begin to make these changes, we will start to see improvement. M.L. In whose company?

In whose company? The more time you spend listening to gossip and rumours, the more of your life you waste on things that don't contribute to your growth. You have a choice: you can either engage in such discussions or walk away to focus on conversations that can help you develop. Achievers don't waste their time on gossip; instead, they invest their time in creativity, generating solutions, finding inspiration, and seeking advice. They understand that both money and time, when wisely invested, can yield good returns. If you find yourself involved in gossip, ask yourself what you gain from it. It may offer momentary pleasure, but it won't add any real value to your life. Think about a day you spent with people who shared ideas or information aimed at development. I'm sure it benefited you in some way, perhaps by enlightening you, helping you make a sound investment, or preventing a poor decision. We have ample opportunities to grow by surrounding ourselves w...
