Painting and Life

 Painting and Life

A good painter understands the size of the canvas, has a clear mental image of what she wants to create, knows the appropriate brush sizes, and selects the right colors. However, simply having the tools does not make her the best painter; she also needs skills, knowledge, imagination, and, above all, patience. With all these elements in place, the result can be a masterpiece.

Now, let’s relate our lives to painting. We are the painters of our own lives, and our goals represent the images we want to achieve. We should remember that while we are eternal in spirit, our life span—the canvas we are given—is limited. It is up to us to decide how to make the best use of our time.

Just as a painter develops her competencies, we must also cultivate the skills necessary to achieve our goals. We should replace unwanted worries and fears with positive imagination and cultivate the patience needed to reap the rewards of our hard work.

By carefully applying the qualities of an effective painter, we can create our own masterpiece.
