Knife and People
A sharp knife in the hands of someone
who doesn’t know how to use it effectively has no right to blame the knife.
Likewise, a dull knife in the hands of a skilled user is not to be blamed
either.
A well-sharpened knife in the hands of
a competent person can achieve the desired results. This concept doesn't just
apply to knives; it also reflects on team dynamics. Some subordinates may be
exceptionally talented ("sharp"), but if their managers do not know
how to utilise their skills effectively, the potential goes untapped.
Conversely, managers might be effective in their roles but fail to develop and
sharpen their subordinates.
We
can unlock our full potential by sharpening ourselves and helping one another
improve according to the expectations we hold for each other.
