Happiness, Mind and Attitude
There is a saying that happiness and unhappiness are states of mind. This is true; our state of mind plays a significant role in how we feel. However, there is something that influences our state of mind, playing a bigger role in determining our happiness and unhappiness, which you will understand at the end of this article.
When we closely
examine our own happiness, we often find that it is a decision we make. For
instance, after receiving appreciation at work, we have a choice: we can either
dismiss it as just another conversation or allow it to resonate with us and
cultivate a sense of happiness.
Now, this raises the
question: Is happiness a state of mind or a decision? I leave this question for
you to consider as a reader. Conversely, when we receive negative feedback that
questions our experience, we again face a choice. We can either view it as just
another piece of input or let it affect us profoundly and activate feelings of
unhappiness. Here too, we must ask: is unhappiness a state of mind or a
decision?
Upon examining both
scenarios, we see that our attitude influences our decision. Therefore,
happiness and unhappiness are outcomes of our attitude toward life.
